the makeup colours returning for 2026

Brown continues to sit at the centre of much of it.

Chocolate liner. Espresso mascara. Cinnamon toned blush. Taupe shadow. Richer browns replacing harsher black in many makeup routines. The effect feels softer against skin while still giving definition.

Muted berry tones are returning too.

Plum, blackberry, wine, softened cherry. Colours that carry slightly more mood without becoming overly dramatic. Lipsticks are appearing less flat now, often layered with balm or gloss so the colour still moves naturally in different lighting.

Even peach and apricot tones have become warmer.

Blush placement has shifted slightly upward and outward again, allowing colour to appear more diffused across the face. Satin textures continue to sit more naturally within this direction too.

Nails are following similar tones.

Deep burgundy, espresso, caramel, sheer pink, chocolate brown, soft greige. Colours that feel polished without appearing overly seasonal or trend driven.

The influence of fashion and interiors can be seen through beauty as well. Warmer timber tones, brushed metals, chocolate suedes, espresso tailoring, tobacco leather, and richer neutrals are all carrying through visually into makeup palettes.

Even evening makeup feels slightly different now.

Less sharp contrast. More tonal depth. Softer blending. Beauty that works within different lighting rather than only under direct flash photography.

Some colours never disappear completely.

They simply return in slightly different textures, finishes, and moods each time around.
